173d Airborne Memorial Bio

I attended Jump School at Fort Benning GA in February of 1964. After a 21 day boat trip I arrived on Okinawa on March 21st, 1964. I was assigned to HHC, 1/503 Airborne Infantry 173d Airborne Brigade (Separate) at Camp Kubasaki Okinawa. Lt Col Richard “Rawhide” Boland was our battalion commander. In November of 1965 I was reassigned to C Company 1/503rd. On 5 May 1965 I deployed with the Brigade to Vung Tau Republic of South Vietnam. I served as a driver, RTO, and Communications Chief for C Company during my tour in Vietnam. I was the RTO for the C Company Commander on the 8th of November 1965. I returned to the USA on 5 April 1966 after serving in the 173d for twenty –five months. I completed my military service in September of 1966 with an Honorable Discharge.

I have been involved with the 173d Memorial for over six years. I have served as Treasurer of the 173d Memorial Foundation for the past three years. I am honored to say I am a “Sky Soldier” and served with the best soldiers I have every know.
