After four and a-half years of fund raising, design work, and hiring contractors the Memorial is becoming a reality.
On Friday 18 December 2009 Georgia Development Partners commenced construction on the 173d Memorial at the National Infantry Museums Patriot Park. Surveying, erosion control, site access, and drainage work are underway. Forming of the memorial base and concrete work will commence after all below grade work is completed.
Columbus Monument Company is completing the CAD layout for the granite panels and is well on the way to completing each panel for the memorial.
The Memorial centerpiece sculpture is in storage and ready to be placed on the memorial at the appropriate time.
All work is being supervised by our Architects at French & Associates, and Ed Summey the Foundation's on site project manager.
Completion of the 173d Memorial is anticipated to be sometime in late April 2010.
Future updates and pictures of the memorial construction in progress will be posted on the web site.
